With MijnOLVG you can view and manage your personal data. You can, for example, see your planned appointments, view test results and ask short questions.
As a patient, you are our guest and we look after our guests as well as possible - not only with the best medical care, but also with our levels of service.
Pharmacy OLVG's West location has a pharmacy which is the only one in Amsterdam that's open 24 hours a day. This pharmacy is accessible to everyone, even if you are not a patient at the hospital. You can find the pharmacy in the central hall by the entrance. |
Gift shop The gift shop sells different types of magazines, books, packaged snacks and drinks to take away. You can surprise someone with balloons, flowers and fruit or a gift. They sell skin care products and maternity gifts, for example. You can also get toiletries that you might have forgotten here. |
Computers and internet There are 3 computers in the central hall (right behind the reception). There is also free WiFi available at the hospital. |
Cordaan Healthcare Shop The Cordaan Healthcare shop is the place to go to loan, rent and sell medical aids and can be found in the central hall. On presentation of your proof of identity and health insurance card you can borrow a wheelchair, bed raisers or a commode for free. Host/hostesses and reception You will be welcomed by a host/hostess in the central hall. He/she will be able to answer any questions you may have and guide you around the hospital. Are you arriving very early or is the host/hostess already busy? The reception is located in the middle of the hall. You can ask any questions you may have there. Spiritual counsellors The spiritual counsellors are available to all patients and their loved ones. They can guide you, support you and help you deal with major events and they can also support you spirituality. The spiritual counsellor can talk to you about what's going on, can help you process things and can help you organise your thoughts and questions. The spiritual counsellor will also help support you in terms of your wishes concerning your beliefs. The spiritual counsellors will visit you on request. They can also put you in contact with a representative of your own faith or belief system. |
Lost and Found Have you lost something? Then contact the nursing ward where you have been admitted. |
Golf cart Do you have difficulty walking and is your car a little far from the entrance? No worries, a special golf cart drives around the car park and will drop you off at the hospital entrance and/or take you back to your car for free. Do you want to use the golf cart? Then raise your hand when you see the golf cart driving past. Or ask for it at the reception and you will then be picked up down by the exit in the garage. Coffee and tea On weekday mornings, our volunteers give out free coffee, tea or lemonade at the outpatient clinics. Outside these times, you can use the vending machines at the Emergency Department and at various outpatient clinics where you can buy coffee or tea. Of course you can also go to the restaurant in the central hall for tea and coffee. |
Mathot Medical Specialists For aids, compression therapy and orthopaedics. Therapeutic elastic stockings are always fitted to you specifically. You can make an appointment for this at the Mathot branch in the hospital. They are also the place to go to for bandages and specialised products for stomas, continence and wounds. Mobile telephones The use of mobile devices is permitted throughout OLVG, unless the user is in an area where a sign prohibiting usage indicates that this is not allowed. |
Quiet room, Prayer room, Chapel On the first floor there is a quiet room where everyone can go for peace or reflection. There is also a chapel. There is an Islamic prayer room on the second floor. |

Disabled People You can have your parking ticket validated upon presentation of your own, valid, disabled badge. Please be aware: We will check that the badgeholder is actually present! |
The Patient Council The Patient Council advises the OLVG board on matters of interest to patients such as services, accessibility and treatment, but also on organisational and financial matters. The aim is to improve the quality and safety of medical care, nursing care and services. |
Patient transport Do you need help getting to your destination? Then you can request transport assistance from the host/hostess or at the reception. You will be picked up by one of our employees, if necessary with a wheelchair, within 5 minutes. To get back to where you started, report to the reception of the department where you had the appointment. |
Restaurant There is a restaurant for patients and visitors in the central hall. Do you fancy a cup of coffee, a small snack or a whole meal? Order at the counter and take a seat at one of the tables. Opening hours Mon to Fri: 08:30 - 20:00 Sat, Sun: 11:00 - 20:00 The kitchen closes at 19:30 every day. |
Wheelchair There are wheelchairs in the central hall. To be able to use them, you will need a €1 coin. You will get this back once the wheelchair is returned. |
Confectionary vending machine On the first floor, there is a vending machine where you can buy a snack at any time, day or night. |
Quiet room and prayer room There is a quiet room on the first floor where everyone can go for some peace or contemplation, to light a candle or write something down in the prayer/thought book. There is an Islamic prayer room on the second floor. Both spaces are freely accessible. |
Language Information Point (in Dutch: Taal Informatie Punt, TIP) Do you need help filling in a form or reading a brochure? The volunteers will be happy to help you. See the schedule for up-to-date dates and times. |
Taxi Do you want a taxi for the return trip? Our reception or security staff will call the taxi for you. |
Television You can watch TV for free during your stay at our hospital. |
Interpreter It is important that you understand what is being said to you and that employees know what you want to say. Do you have trouble with the Dutch language? Then we recommend that you take someone with you (not a child) to interpret. This is only possible if the person has a good command of Dutch and you feel familiar enough with this person to discuss personal matters. You can also use a telephone interpreter. Your healthcare provider can request an interpreter for you. |
AOV meeting point The AOV meeting point is next to the cash machine. This is an electronic booking system which allows you, as a patient who suffers from limited mobility, to arrange your return trip to your home address in Amsterdam or the surrounding area. |
